Trace of Light
Trace of Light is a play on the Latin derivation of the word photography or "writing with light". It also alludes to the nearby Natchez Trace, a scenic highway traversing Tennessee, Alabama, and Mississippi, and a part of the National Park system.
Trace of Light began with the end of my career, of the past 27 years, as a Quality Assurance Manager for two major corporations. In 2004/2005, the facility was closed leaving me with a decision to continue in that career or try something new. Not getting any younger and having always loved photography, the work of nature photographers in particular, I made the jump to making fine art prints. I have made a considerable investment in a digital darkroom to create the prints.
My background is in quality, art, and nature. My college education was a degree in Fisheries Science at West Virginia University. I completed electives in art and photography whenever possible. In case you're wondering, Fisheries Science is heavy on statistics and hence the quality career. I have photographed off and on since high school and became very serious in 1997 after a friend rekindled my interest. I have attended several workshops, to augment my university training, and I have had photographs published in the magazines listed below.
My home, near Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, is on a small farm with my wife, two daughters, horses, cats, dogs, and fish. We pride ourselves on keeping part of the farm off-limits to the horses. Here bluebirds, blue grosbeaks, hawks, and many other creatures flourish.
Check for shows and galleries in the show section so you may have the opportunity to view some of my prints in person. I would also like to meet you.
